Electoral bonds: struck down as unconstitutional
The Supreme Court struck down the electoral bond scheme in 2024. Anonymous political funding through bonds was held illegal. Donor data had to be published.
Electoral bonds let companies and people give money to parties while keeping the public in the dark. The scheme was pushed as clean politics. The top court said the opposite for transparency.
In February 2024, the Supreme Court held the scheme unconstitutional. It ordered the State Bank of India and the Election Commission to disclose purchase and redemption data.
After disclosure, the public could finally match big donors and parties. That is the proof path: court order + published lists, not a WhatsApp PDF.
