BJP washing machine: 25 joined, 23 got reprieve
Indian Express counted 25 opposition politicians facing central corruption probes who crossed to BJP since 2014. In 23 cases, probes closed, stalled, or went cold. Wire amplified the ledger. Opposition calls it a washing machine. Agencies deny politics.
If agencies were blind, switching parties should not change file temperature. The public record says otherwise for a long list of names.
Indian Express investigation (April 2024): 25 prominent politicians facing CBI/ED-style corruption action joined BJP after 2014. Break-up reported: 10 Congress, 4 NCP, 4 Shiv Sena, 3 TMC, 2 TDP, 1 SP, 1 YSRCP. In 23 of 25, they got reprieve: 3 cases closed, 20 stalled or cold. Only two (Jyoti Mirdha, YS Chowdary) showed no clear let-up at the time of the report.
Named examples in that reporting include Himanta Biswa Sarma, Ashok Chavan, Ajit Pawar, Praful Patel, Suvendu Adhikari, and others. The Wire and Scroll carried the same count for readers who do not trust cheerleader TV.
Earlier Express work also flagged that after 2014, a huge share of politicians hit by ED/CBI action were from the opposition. Government line: evidence-based probes, delays have reasons, cases remain open. Citizen line: when heat dies after a saffron welcome, the pattern is the story.
Trishola lists this as contested institutional pattern with hard newspaper ledger numbers, not as a Supreme Court finding that every closed file was a bribe.
What is proven here
Proof level: contested pattern backed by Indian Express investigation counts and Wire/Scroll amplification. Not a court judgment that agencies are illegal. Check each named leader's latest court status before sharing as settled fact.
