Sonam Wangchuk
Engineer, education reformer, and climate activist from Ladakh. In 2026 he joined student protests over NEET paper leaks and began a long hunger strike demanding accountability in India's exam system.
Wangchuk is known for alternative education models and for speaking when systems fail ordinary people, from Ladakh's environment to national exam integrity.
In June–July 2026, after the NEET-UG paper-leak crisis, he joined protests linked to demands for education accountability. He began an indefinite hunger strike and later set conditions around government accountability and Parliament debate, while student groups continued calling for the Education Minister's resignation.
Police shifted him to Safdarjung Hospital during the fast. Coverage recorded his appeals for peaceful protest and for youth to be heard by Parliament.
