Adivasi leader who fought colonial land grab and missionary-state pressure in the Chota Nagpur region. Died in jail in his twenties.
Birsa's Ulgulan was a freedom struggle from the forest floor: land, dignity, and refusal to be erased. Independent India still fails many Adivasi communities on the same axis.
Remembering him means remembering that freedom was never only a coastal elite story.
